Volunteers

Val -

"Volunteering at the Lighthouse has truly been a wonderful experience. The Lighthouse allows children, teens and parents to share their stories with each other. It is amazing to see and feel the bond that develops so natually among all of them. Having lost my Mother at age 11 and my Father at age 26, I have found my experience as a facilitator at the Lighthouse to be both enriching and enjoyable."

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our program. They generously give of their time and skills to make

an important difference in the life of a child or teen struggling with the loss of a family member. Our volunteers tell us they receive as much as they give from volunteering

volunteers2We currently have over 90 dedicated people who help us accomplish our mission.

heart  The majority of our volunteers are facilitators in our peer support groups
heart  Some serve on our Board of Directors
heart  Some assist with Marketing and Office Duties, or offer tech support
heart  Other volunteers, including high school students, help with Yard and Building Maintenance, Fundraising events, and preparation of arts and crafts activities

Our volunteers have a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. They are teachers, social workers, business professionals, and retirees. Most, but not all, of our volunteers have experienced grief as children or adults. However, they all are caring individuals who understand the importance of providing support to grieving children, teens and their caregivers.
